Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon's inspiring visit to the CCAM: an opportunity for cultural and economic expansion

We had the pleasure of welcoming Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon, Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Energy, Minister responsible for Regional Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Metropolis and the Montreal Region, for a visit and lengthy discussions.

The Minister took the opportunity to familiarize himself with CCAM's projects, and to meet and exchange with members of our team, as well as several business leaders from the Black communities. Our discussions focused on how the Minister and his government can work with the CCAM to create impact through arts and culture, and contribute to Montreal's national and international profile.

The meeting was marked by fruitful exchanges, highlighting the cultural richness of black communities and the role of CCAM in promoting Montreal. With great interest, the Minister expressed his support for the CCAM's flagship initiatives, and stressed the importance of collaboration between the government and cultural organizations like the CCAM to foster the economic and social development of our city.

As a platform for launching economic opportunities, arts and culture can play a key role in revitalizing our communities and neighborhoods, and in creating sustainable jobs. Minister Fitzgibbon recognized the economic value of the cultural and creative industries and pledged to work to support the CCAM in its commitment to create an inclusive space in Montreal to preserve and showcase the cultural and artistic heritage of Black communities, putting forward ambitious and innovative initiatives that pave the way for new opportunities for artists and cultural entrepreneurs.

We firmly believe that it is possible to strengthen the local economy while preserving and celebrating the cultural diversity that makes Montreal so proud. Together, we can create an environment in which talent can flourish, cross-cultural collaboration can flourish, and the contributions of black communities to our society can be recognized.

This visit is the fruit of CCAM's tireless collaborative work since its creation just over two years ago. It marks an important step in our journey towards establishing an inclusive home for black communities in Montreal. We look forward to seeing the fruits of this collaboration in the months ahead, with new opportunities, exciting projects and increased recognition of the incredible potential that arts and culture represent.

Thank you to Minister Fitzgibbon for his visit and his commitment to CCAM. Together, we will continue to showcase Montreal's diversity and create lasting impact in our communities through arts and culture.
