Montreal, October 27, 2026 – The Montreal Afro-Canadian Cultural Center (CCAM) is honored to announce that it will pay tribute to Dr. Yvette Bonny at the “ Soirée Heritage,” to be held on October 29. This fifth edition of the CCAM’s signature annual event will be chaired by the Honorable Marie-Françoise Mégie and hosted by journalist Sophie Fouron.

A native of Haiti, Dr. Yvette Bonny is a pediatrician and hematologist who has made her mark on the history of medicine in Quebec. In 1980, she became the first physician to perform a bone marrow transplant on a child in Quebec, a major breakthrough in the treatment of young patients with serious blood disorders.

Throughout her career, Dr. Bonny has also dedicated herself to training new generations of physicians and improving pediatric care. Her commitment to medicine, teaching, and the transmission of knowledge has helped pave the way for those who follow in her footsteps.

Her career has earned her numerous honors, including the Ordre national du Québec and the Order of Canada, in recognition of her contributions to medicine and society. By honoring her this year, the CCAM wishes to highlight a woman whose achievements and dedication continue to inspire current and future generations.
