Montreal, November 5, 2024 - The Montreal Afro-Canadian Cultural Centre (CCAM) is pleased to announce that Amina Gerba will be honored at its 3rd edition of the Soirée Heritage, to be held on November 7.

Each year, the Soirée Heritage honors individuals whose leadership has played an essential role in the influence and development of black communities, while highlighting their contributions to our society.

Originally from Cameroon, Amina Gerba was appointed Independent Senator for Quebec in July 2021 in the Senate of Canada, where she currently sits on the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade, and co-chairs the Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association. Prior to her appointment, she was President of the Board of Directors of Entreprendre Ici, which supports entrepreneurs from cultural communities.

A seasoned entrepreneur, Amina Gerba is an ambassador of Afro-optimism and has been building economic ties between Canada and Africa for over 30 years. She founded Forum Africa in 2003, which became Forum Afrique Expansion in 2017, a key platform for fostering business partnerships between Africa and Canada. As the first black woman industrialist in Quebec, she is recognized as a pioneer in the valorization of African resources through her KARIDERM and KARILISS brands.

Amina Gerba is the recipient of numerous honors, including chevalière de l'Ordre national du Québec, and holds a bachelor's degree and an MBA from the Université du Québec à Montréal.
