Montreal, March 12, 2024

The Montreal Afro-Canadian Cultural Centre (CCAM) today announced the second call for projects for the Grant Élan Madeleine Féquière 2024. This Grant aims to propel the emerging talent of young black women in the fields of the arts and cultural entrepreneurship. The last call for projects (spring 2023) received 14 projects and generated $3,000 in project funding.

From Tuesday March 12 to Friday April 26, women artists in the digital and performing arts are invited to apply for this exceptional opportunity.

The Élan Madeleine Féquière Grant embodies the audacious spirit of the person whose name it bears, and testifies to CCAM's commitment to making art an economically viable practice in Black communities.

"I am delighted to launch the second call for projects for the Grant Élan Madeleine Féquière and to support the work of the Centre culturel afro-canadien de Montréal in promoting the cultural and artistic heritage of Black communities. The empowerment of young black women in the arts and in cultural entrepreneurship is of great importance to me, as they contribute to enriching artistic practice from an intersectional perspective and to making art and culture real drivers of economic development. I look forward to discovering the exceptional talents that will emerge from this new cohort of applicants."

Interested parties are invited to submit their projects today.

About the Élan Madeleine Féquière Grant

The Grant Élan Madeleine Féquière is a grant from the Montreal Afro-Canadian Cultural Centre (CCAM) offered to a young black woman aged 35 or under who demonstrates major development potential in one or more artistic disciplines or in cultural entrepreneurship. The creation of the grant was made possible by the generosity of Madeleine Féquière, a businesswoman passionate about the arts and involved in her community, who has mentored a generation of women leaders in the fields of art and entrepreneurship.
