CCAM announces the appointment of Margaret Archer as President of its Board 

Montreal, September 17, 2025 - The Montreal Afro-Canadian Cultural Centre (CCAM) is proud to announce the appointment of Margaret Archer as the new President of its Board.

An expert in communications and a woman deeply committed to the arts and culture community for over a decade, Margaret takes over as Chairman of the Board at a pivotal moment in the trajectory, evolution and growth of CCAM. Her expertise, leadership and community involvement will serve CCAM's outreach and development, particularly as the organization finalizes the construction of itscapital project and begins preparations leading up to the inauguration and opening of its cultural space at 3450 rue Saint-Urbain, Montreal.

During Margaret's one-year renewable term, CCAM will continue to implement its 2024-2027 strategic plan, with a particular focus on:

  • progress on the project to renovate and build the organization's future cultural space
  • organizational growth and development
  • programming orientation
  • developing and multiplying sustainable partnerships with the cultural, corporate and artistic communities

Profile of Margaret Archer

Margaret Archer has over 30 years' experience in corporate communications, including more than a decade as Director of Communications at Rio Tinto. She has also held strategic leadership positions at La Caisse, Transat and Loblaws. Recognized for her leadership and ability to navigate major organizational transformations, she is actively involved in cultural and community affairs. First Vice-President of the Conseil des arts de Montréal, she also chaired the Fondation Dynastie et Diversité Artistique Montréal. Since 2024, she has sat on the Board of the Montreal Afro-Canadian Cultural Centre (CCAM), while contributing to causes related to education, youth and sport. An avid sportswoman, she has also excelled in fencing, where she was ranked first in Canada among veterans in 2010-2011.

CCAM is a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve and promote the cultural and artistic heritage of Black communities through innovation and intercultural exchange. The CCAM was founded to meet a pressing need for spaces and resources that would enable Black communities to express themselves in culturally authentic ways.
