Bal Afrikana : the CCAM announces exceptional collaborations for its first edition with personalities from all spheres of Quebec life

Montreal, August 21, 2024 - The Montreal Afro-Canadian Cultural Centre (CCAM) is proud to unveil the exceptional collaborations that will mark the Bal Afrikana, a unique charity event to be held on September 7, 2024 at Maison Alcan to benefit a cause: promoting access to art and culture for young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods.

For this first event of its kind, CCAM is proud to announce the following headliners Jovana Louis Benoitdesigner and creative director, as well as co-founder of her eponymous brand Jovana Louis. With her exceptional talent and creativity, as well as her status as one of Hollywood's rising fashion stars, Jovana Louis Benoît brings the elegance and modernity of Bal Afrikana fashion to the Bal Afrikana l'événement.

CCAM is also proud to be associated with VKosmetik as the official beauty partner of Bal Afrikana. Founded by entrepreneur Vickie Joseph, the brand offers products designed to sublimate all skin tones, and will enable us to create a memorable aesthetic experience for everyone taking part.

The Bal Afrikana will also feature the participation of influential public who will parade for the cause, including:

The CCAM is also announcing a collaboration with the Festival M.A.DFestival, to support the public casting of the Bal Afrikana, taking place on Saturday August 24 from 5pm to 7pm. This strategic partnership will enable us to discover 30 black models, accompanied by 6 children.

The Bal Afrikana will be held on September 7, 2024, starting at 6pm, and will feature three main events: a cocktail reception, a fashion show and a dance party.

About Bal Afrikana

The Bal Afrikana is a beneficial initiative of the Montreal Afro-Canadian Cultural Centre (CCAM) to promote access to art and culture for young people from historically disadvantaged neighborhoods. The event is an evening of celebration and fashion. Under the slogan "Affichez-vous. Show your true colors", Bal Afrikana encourages participants to present themselves in the outfits that best represent them, while promoting the traditions and richness of Afro-descendant finery and culture.
