Arts, culture and sustainable development: Minister Steven Guilbeault visits the CCAM

The recent visit of Canada's Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, Steven Guilbeault, to the CCAM was received with great enthusiasm by the organization.

Last December, the Minister visited the site to take stock of the CCAM's work to provide Montreal with a space to preserve and promote the cultural and artistic heritage of Black communities.

During the fruitful exchanges, it became clear that the Minister and his government could work with the CCAM to harmonize the latter's inclusive cultural space project with ecological considerations. The Minister took the opportunity to stress the importance of a sustainable approach to the development of cultural projects, paving the way for a positive environmental footprint.

Since its inception, CCAM has been actively committed to integrating green practices into its vision of a cultural space. "We fundamentally believe that community development and sustainable development go hand in hand, and that this can be demonstrated in all sectors," said Allen Alexandre, Executive Director of CCAM, following the Minister's visit.

"We will continue to work closely with Minister Guilbeault and the federal government on innovative projects to strengthen recognition of the vital role of arts and culture in our society and generate a lasting impact in our communities, harmonizing culture and ecology." he also promised.
